ABC Disposal's curbside recycling services make our residential service convenient for you. We offer dependable residential garbage pickup to the Cedar Rapids Iowa City corridor communities we serve. By offering 35-gallon, 65-gallon and 96-gallon trash cans on wheels, ABC Disposal guarantees that we have the right service for you. From a special residential garbage pickup to scheduled weekly collection, our professional and friendly drivers can be counted on to pick up your household waste on time.

+ Residential Recycling Instructions:

Please do not park vehicles in front of containers due for pickup. Place the container on either side of the driveway or at the edge of the curb. Allow six feet of clearance from the container from any obstructions such as streetlights, cars, trees, electrical poles, etc. and place the bins three feet from each other. Be sure the lids to the bins are placed towards the street for proper removal.

+ Holiday Pickup:

In the event that your garbage is scheduled to be picked up on a holiday, your garbage will be picked up the following day. ABD Disposal does not perform a residential garbage pickup or recycle pickup on the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If your collection day lands on one of the holidays listed in your recycling schedule, your recyclables will be picked up the following day.

+ Accepted Items:

  • Office paper, white or colored
  • Cardboard boxes, fiber board, and brown bags
  • Aluminum, tin, or steel cans (emptied and rinsed)
  • Plastic bottles and jugs with #1-7 in the triangle on the item bottom (empty, and rinsed)
  • Newspapers, inserts, junk mail, magazines, catalogs, phone books, and paper back books

+ Not accepted for regular pickup:

  • Plastic bags
  • Buckets
  • Hazardous, Automotive, or Electrical Materials
  • Chemical or pesticide containers
  • Glass Bottles or Jars
  • Yardwaste or dry trash
  • Styrofoam, containers or packaging
  • Building or construction materials
  • Household waste, food waste or food-tainted items
